Zeus – the Greek god of thunder who throws electrical lightning bolts—a perfect moniker for any manufacturer of electronic products, and one utilized by a business interested in providing eMobility solutions from the ground up.
Zeus Electric Chassis, Inc., a White Bear, Minnesota-headquartered company founded in 2018, has unveiled its Zeus all-electric mechanic’s truck at the recently held NTEA Work Truck Week trade expo in Indianapolis.
The Class 5 Z-19 prototype chassis included a pre-engineered upfit service body provided by Reading Truck Group, LLC a manufacturer of truck equipment and parts from its base in Reading, Pennsylvania.
The chassis offers seamless integration of all tools and auxiliary functions, with its battery powering all electronic integration in the vehicle. For Zeus and Reading, this partnership reduces the upfit time required for integrating new electronic technologies.
Some of the features within the Z-19 prototype include: the FX Control system which provides RFID (radio frequency identification) missing tool alerts, vehicle warning technologies, integrated camera systems, and more.
The Z-19 will offer customers a configurable wheelbase, battery capacity and payload. It utilizes existing OEM bodies and auxiliary tool functions, has common software tools and major components, and will provide durability to the operator as well as a total cost of ownership.
Zeus had, as of October 2021, partnered with EAVX, a unit of JB Poindexter & Co. who collaborate with electric and alternative power chassis producers, such as Reading. Together, they helped integrate the Z-19 prototype with its FX Control system, showcasing innovations in driver safety, worksite performance, and fleet telematics.
The Z-19 prototype is the first vehicle produced via Zeus and the JB Poindexter teams.
