It’s about the present and the future for Volvo Penta.
Darren Tasker, the Vice President of Industrial Sales for Volvo Penta of the Americas, is delivering a keynote address on September 25, 2023, at the one-day Diesel Progress Summit in Louisville, Kentucky, where he will discuss emissions-free and low-emissions solutions for the energy transformation.
Following it, between September 26 and 28, 2023, also in Louisville, at The Utility Expo, Volvo Penta will give attendees a first-hand look at its progress on the road to net zero.
At The Utility Expo, Volvo Penta will present its robust ecosystem of sustainable power solutions designed to meet unique machine, application, and business needs for the utility industry.
In booth K345 at The Utility Expo, alongside sister company Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Penta will exhibit its electric driveline, which is powering an advancement in electromobility through a variety of collaborations.
The purpose-built solution has been deployed in the TICO Pro-Spotter Electric terminal tractors as well as the RTX electric fire truck developed with OEM Rosenbauer.
Volvo Penta’s synergic approach has also been demonstrated in the recent unveiling of an exciting, electrified concept model for a multipurpose, highway-speed wheeled excavator with partner Gradall.
Powering the Energy Transition
During The Utility Expo, Volvo Penta experts will also highlight how the company’s highly collaborative focus is helping to advance access to sustainable power solutions in the utility sector. Volvo Penta recently expanded into battery energy storage systems (BESS) with a solution designed to accelerate adoption through a multi-layered partnership with Utility Innovation Group (UIG).
The partnership allows Volvo Penta to gain knowledge from UIG, specialists in the design and application of resilient and innovative utility systems and decentralized energy solutions to advance electric grid infrastructure.
“If one thing is clear on the road toward zero emissions, it’s that change won’t happen in a vacuum. Progress requires an ecosystem that is shared between all stakeholders, combining different strands of expertise to drive the best solutions forward,” Tasker stated. “We look forward to showcasing how our multipronged, collaborative strategy is facilitating meaningful strides in improving sustainability, working closely with partners, communities, and other stakeholders to bring the net-zero vision into reality."
Innovation in Emissions Technologies
At the fifth annual Diesel Progress Summit, Tasker will discuss his insights on the advancement of alternative fuels and electromobility, as well as the role ultra-efficient engines—such as Volvo Penta’s Stage V and Tier 4 final solutions—will play in the transition towards a zero-emissions future.
“We continue to evolve our engine range to run on compatible alternative fuels, including our dual-fuel hydrogen engine, to support applications that may not be able to take full advantage of electric solutions,” said Tasker. “The path to fossil-free power is an incremental one that requires a wide range of sustainable and bridging technologies. We combine this with our customer, market, and engineering expertise to optimize designs and technology for specific applications.”
Volvo Penta—nay, the entire Volvo Group—is working to develop solutions to reduce and ultimately eliminate greenhouse gas emissions. Volvo Penta said it is committed to the science-based targets initiative to achieve net-zero value chain emissions by 2050.
