Dearborn, Michigan – Ford is known as one of the largest players in the trucking industry. With a rich history, Ford is looking to make a splash in the trending electric vehicle market with its all-new Ford F-150 Lightning Pro.
The 2022 vehicle is the latest addition to the commercial vehicle product line from Ford. The strong, sleek designed truck is tough, powerful, and convenient. The biggest selling point is the fact that the truck is electric, delivering zero carbon emissions. As trends move towards more environmentally sound vehicles, the F-150 Lightning Pro offers all the benefits of a classic Ford while being a sustainable truck.
“F-150 Lightning Pro represents so much more than an electric workhorse - it’s made for commercial customers inside and out, it gets better over time, and it’s totally plugged into always-on services that can help business productivity,” said Jim Farley, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company.
The electric platform adds new capabilities that will enhance vehicle productivity, while reducing operating costs. The vehicle has a powerful 426 horsepower engine, which extends to 563 with an extended range pack. The standard distance range for the battery is roughly 230 miles. The charging hardware is available with 32-amp, 48-amp, and 80-amp chargers to enable overnight charging, with the 80-amp capacity being the only one on the market.
Durability is one of Ford’s strongest principles, and the electric vehicle meets that standard just as strongly as the company’s predecessor fleets. The vehicle has gone through the same rigorous tests to test the battery and powertrain, through harsh conditions such as running through rocks, stones, mud baths, and in temperatures of both desert heat and 40-degrees below zero.
“Ford commercial trucks are the backbone for many of our customers’ businesses, which is why we put them through testing so harsh, some areas can only be driven by robots,” Cannis said. “This helps ensure that when we say the F-150 Lightning is Built Ford Tough, customers understand what that means for their business.”
Those looking to do some lifting with the truck can expect a maximum of 2000lbs capacity for the base of the truck. In terms of towing, that number goes up to 5,000lbs (7,700lbs with the optional Max Trailer Tow package).
The four door, five passenger vehicle has vinyl seats convenient for easing cleaning, along with a 12-inch LCD touch screen and 12-inch productivity screen. The vehicle is priced at an MSRP of $49,974.
