She’s a grand ol’ flag and is now a fantastic paint job on a new fire truck that honors American veterans.
Probably not a coincidence, but an impromptu ceremony to debut the “American Veteran Fire Truck” was held on December 7, 2021, the 80th anniversary of the 1941 Pearl Harbor attack that led to the nation’s official involvement in WWII.
The Saint Peters, Missouri-based Central County Fire & Rescue located in the St. Louis area recently purchased three new fire trucks from Pierce Manufacturing Inc.
It was decided to paint the truck with this freshly designed one-off kit after Saint Peters area soldier Marine Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz was killed in action on August 26, 2021 during an enemy attack as he was part of the supporting non-combatant evacuation operations in Kabul, Afghanistan during Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
A kneeling soldier in muted silhouette along the side of the truck near the rear wheel is the subtle honorific.
The beautiful paint job by Pierce may leave motorists wondering if they need to pull over and salute when the truck passes them on the road. Go ahead.
Pierce is an Oshkosh Corporation company, and a leading North American manufacturer of custom fire apparatus.
