The city of Woodland, California is set to incorporate a second electric service vehicle into its fleet after receiving the all-electric medium-duty service truck from SPI Energy Co.’s Phoenix Motorcars subsidiary. The Z500 model trucks will be used citywide to maintain the City of Woodland’s utility infrastructure, and further the city’s initiatives towards cleaner air quality and deploying zero-emissions trucks.
Built on the Ford E-450 chassis, the Zeus 500 Electric Service Truck features a Knapheide KSV body configured for city applications, a range of up to 110 miles, and capabilities for Level 2 and 3 charging and advanced telematics. The City of Woodland’s two electric vehicles are projected to reduce 120 metric tonnes of carbon emissions, minimize operating costs for the city, and support the city’s Climate Action Plan which calls for reductions in greenhouse gas emissions by 2035.
Funding for the vehicles was secured from the Sacramento Metroplitan Air Quality Management District’s (SMAQMD) Sacramento Emergency Clean Air Transportation (SECAT) funding, in addition to the installation of two Level 3 50kW DC fast-charging stations throughout the city.
