A service body for half-ton and compact trucks has been developed by The Knapheide Manufacturing Company of Quincy, Illinois.
The EC Series bodies “feature an optimized understructure for superior strength to weight ratio,” said a news release from Knapheide, a family-owned firm founded in 1848. The bodies, which also possess many “tried and true” Knapheide standard features, received lots of positive feedback during a sneak previews at the 2015 Work Truck Show earlier this year in Indianapolis, the release added.
“Customers have become very payload sensitive but still want the durability of steel,” Knapheide product manager Tony Marshall said in the release. “The combination of a half-ton or compact pickup with an EC Series service body gives the owner/operator more than enough applicable payload. The OEM approved bed delete option on half-ton and compact trucks has opened up a whole new segment for truck body manufacturers and upfitters.”
Owners of compact and half-ton trucks have traditionally been confined to using side-mounted or cross-mounted tool boxes and toppers, the release noted. With the EC Series, they can transition to dedicated services bodies, “which promotes forced organization to drive efficiency and productivity.”
The EC Series bodies include such features as automotive-quality rotary latches, stainless steel continuous hinges, and E-Coat prime paint protection.
They are available through Knapheide’s extensive North American distribution network. For more information, visit www.knapheide.com
