Not one but two pro football Hall of Famers will share keynote speaker duties at the 2017 Work Truck Show in Indianapolis.
Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long — who followed up their stellar careers in the National Football League by becoming colorful TV analysts and best of friends, will give their joint address as part of the President’s Breakfast and annual general meeting of the National Truck Equipment Association on March 16.
The NTEA, which markets itself as the Association for the Work Truck Industry, organizes the annual Work Truck Show taking March 14-17 at the Indianapolis Convention Center in Indianapolis.
In their address, the Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees “will provide insights into the Hall’s five core values that are as essential for success in business as they are for America’s favorite game: commitment, integrity, courage, respect and excellence,” said a news release from the NTEA.
During his playing days with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bradshaw became the first quarterback to win four Super Bowls. Long, a defensive lineman, spent 13 years in the NFL with the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders, winning a Super Bowl in 1984, the year Bradshaw retired from the league.
Their broadcasting careers have been longer than their playing ones. For over two decades, they have worked together on Fox NFL Sunday — a relationship Bradshaw has likened to “the odd couple,” the NTEA news release said. One played offence, the other defence. Bradshaw is from Louisiana; Long is from Boston. Bradshaw is 12 years older.
“Long and Bradshaw know a lot about teamwork and achievement,” the release quoted Adam Keane, 2017 NTEA Convention chairman and executive vice-president of Allied Body Works Inc., which is based in Seattle. “They are both successful athletes, business owners and movie stars, as well as community and charitable supporters. Their style is fun, and their message inspirational.”
New this year, tickets to the President’s Breakfast must be purchased separately from any other registration package. For information, visit www.worktruckshow.com.
