Mack Trucks will undergo a major leadership transition this summer as longtime Volvo Group executive Stephen Roy retires after nearly 25 years with the organization. Roy has served in multiple senior roles across the truck and construction equipment businesses, including the past three years as president of Mack Trucks and head of Group Trucks North America.
During his tenure, Roy helped strengthen Mack’s position in the North American market, guiding the company through a period of strategic alignment and preparing it for future growth. Volvo Group President and Chief Executive Officer Martin Lundstedt credited Roy for reinforcing the company’s regional strategy, noting that his leadership “has driven the platform for continued growth in North America.”
Stepping into the role is Wilson Lirmann (see photo above), a veteran Volvo Trucks executive who has spent nearly a decade leading Volvo Trucks Latin America and the Group’s broader Latin American business. Lirmann brings extensive experience across the truck sector, having held several leadership positions within Volvo Trucks. The transition will take effect on August 1, 2026.
For service truck operators, fleet managers, and technicians, leadership changes at major OEMs often signal shifts in product strategy, dealer support, and long‑term investment in vocational segments.
Mack’s recent focus on strengthening its North American footprint—including parts availability, uptime services, and vocational truck development—has been a key priority under Roy’s leadership. Lirmann’s background in diverse, high‑growth markets suggests continuity in that direction, with an emphasis on operational performance and customer‑support infrastructure.
