Volvo Trucks North America is preparing to make a major move in the vocational truck market with the upcoming debut of the all-new Volvo VNX.
The manufacturer will unveil the next-generation truck during a live digital event on October 14, 2026, at 1 p.m. ET.
Built specifically for vocational and heavy-haul applications, the new VNX is intended to serve customers operating in construction, infrastructure development, and other demanding industries where durability and reliability are critical. According to Volvo, the truck represents its most significant effort to date to grow its presence in the North American vocational segment.
The company said the new model has been developed specifically for North American customers and will feature a completely new design focused on strength, durability, and jobsite performance.
“Volvo has built vocational trucks for some of the most demanding jobsites in the world for decades, and the all-new Volvo VNX sharpens our focus on this segment for the US and Canada. This truck is nothing like you've ever seen before from Volvo Trucks, with a rugged, all-business design built for the toughest jobs out there,” said Peter Voorhoeve, President, Volvo Trucks North America.
While the VNX will be new to the North American market, Volvo brings extensive vocational experience from other regions around the world. The company noted that its vocational and construction truck platforms have long been used in demanding applications throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Volvo also points to its construction equipment heritage as a key advantage. As part of the Volvo Group, the manufacturer benefits from decades of experience building and supporting construction equipment used on challenging jobsites.
Safety is expected to be a major focus of the October reveal. Vocational truck operators often work in environments with limited visibility, heavy equipment movement, uneven terrain, and personnel working around vehicles. Volvo has indicated that the new VNX will incorporate advanced safety technologies as well as passive safety features designed to help drivers operate more safely in these demanding conditions.
“We know our customers expect their trucks to perform day in and day out in challenging conditions. As the only OEM in North America that builds both construction equipment and construction trucks, we bring a unique understanding of how work gets done on the jobsite. Vocational work happens in some of the toughest, most unpredictable environments a driver will ever face, which is exactly why safety is always built into everything we do,” explained Voorhoeve.
The launch comes as demand for vocational trucks is expected to benefit from ongoing infrastructure investment and large-scale industrial and energy projects across North America. As spending on roads, bridges, power generation facilities, and other major developments continues, fleets are expected to require more specialized Class 8 equipment capable of handling demanding applications.
Volvo Trucks North America is headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, and is one of North America's leading heavy-duty truck manufacturers. The company supports customers through a network of nearly 400 authorized dealers across the continent and assembles trucks at its New River Valley facility in Dublin, Virginia. Volvo Trucks North America is part of the global Volvo Trucks organization, which provides medium- and heavy-duty transportation solutions in markets around the world.
