Swift Navigation, a leader in precise positioning technology, announced surpassing 10 million ADAS-enabled and autonomous vehicles using their Skylark® service. This achievement highlights their role in accelerating the commercialization of autonomous vehicles.
Despite advancements in sensors and maps, L3 autonomous vehicles haven't met the requirements for mass deployment. Skylark® addresses these challenges by improving location accuracy from meters to centimeters.
Skylark® offers continent-wide coverage, uniform performance, and guaranteed availability, ensuring safe operation in challenging environments. It also reduces computing costs by using standard maps instead of data-intensive HD maps.
"We built Skylark from the ground up to unlock the next generation of location-based products, starting with ADAS-enabled and autonomous vehicles,” said Timothy Harris, Co-Founder and CEO of Swift Navigation. “Today, we are not only enabling the largest commercial deployments of those vehicles but are already applying our technology and know-how to unlock adjacent use cases in V2X and robotics.”
Skylark® is the first cloud-based service certified to meet ISO 26262:2018 functional safety standards, allowing autonomous systems to meet regulations at a lower cost.
“We are proud to be enabling ADAS and autonomous vehicle programs for the largest automakers in the world," said Joel Gibson, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Automotive and Swift Navigation. “Surpassing 10 million vehicles speaks to our deep real-world experience and our pivotal role in making higher levels of autonomy and V2X commercially viable.”
When used with Swift's Starling® Positioning Engine, Skylark® delivers high-precision GNSS positioning and analyzes threats to accuracy.
Skylark® is available as a standalone service and works with various components and positioning engines.
It's used in applications beyond autonomous vehicles such as outdoor robots and augmented reality.
In addition to ISO 26262:2018 certification, Swift Navigation also holds certifications for quality management, service management, information security, and adheres to ASPICE Level 3 for automotive development processes.
