Snap-on Incorporated is strengthening its position in the heavy-duty repair sector with the recent acquisition of Diesel Laptops, a company focused on diagnostics, repair information, and digital tools for commercial trucks and off-highway equipment.
The transaction, completed June 8, 2026, was valued at approximately $100 million in cash and reflects Snap-on’s continued investment in advanced diagnostic capabilities as vehicle and equipment systems grow more complex.
Diesel Laptops, based in Irmo, South Carolina, supports heavy-duty repair shops, fleets, and equipment operators across industries including construction, mining, agriculture, and infrastructure. Its offerings center on diagnostic platforms and repair data designed to improve technician efficiency and accuracy in the field and in the shop.
The acquisition expands Snap-on’s reach in key growth markets while adding specialized expertise in heavy-duty applications. It also strengthens the company’s library of proprietary, experience-based data, a critical component in modern diagnostics where accurate information can significantly reduce downtime.
Diesel Laptops will operate within Snap-on Incorporated’s Repair Systems & Information Group, aligning its products and services with Snap-on’s existing diagnostics and repair information portfolio. The move is expected to support further development of integrated solutions aimed at professional technicians working on commercial vehicles and equipment.
For service truck operators and mobile technicians, the need for reliable diagnostic tools and comprehensive repair data continues to grow. Advances in emissions systems, electronic controls, and connected technologies have added new layers of complexity to maintenance and repair. As a result, access to accurate, up-to-date information is becoming just as important as the tools themselves.
By incorporating Diesel Laptops into its ecosystem, Snap-on is positioning itself to better support technicians dealing with these challenges, offering a combination of hardware, software, and data-driven solutions tailored to both mobile and shop-based environments.
Snap-on was founded in 1920 and is headquartered in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
