Premier Truck Rental (PTR) is highlighting three custom-built fleet solutions that were developed to solve specialized customer challenges across utility and contractor applications.
PTR is a family-owned fleet rental solutions provider headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with additional operations in Texas.
According to the company, the builds reflect its approach to designing rental equipment around specific jobsite requirements rather than relying on standard configurations. Over the past five years, PTR has introduced three custom units created through collaboration between customers, sales teams, operations personnel, and the company's in-house technicians.
The featured builds include the Candy Wagon Framer Lite, the Open Service Body Framer, and a Custom Open Service Body for Utilities.
The Candy Wagon Framer Lite, also referred to as the contractor truck, was developed as an evolution of PTR's Candy Wagon Framer.
The unit retains an 18,500-pound maximum towing capacity, a 19,500-pound gross vehicle weight rating, a 3,200-pound payload capacity, and an 11-foot bed. However, the Framer Lite incorporates a more streamlined configuration designed around customer needs.
Key changes include a mid-length overhead rack in place of a full-size rack, along with the removal of the front bumper, hydraulic winch, and capstan.
For utility customers working in substations and other confined environments, PTR developed the Open Service Body Framer.
The truck combines maneuverability with storage and equipment access, featuring a hydraulic winch from DP Winch, a partial overhead rack, and exterior drawers intended to help crews organize tools and equipment while working in tight spaces.
The third build, the Custom Open Service Body for Utilities, was initially created as a specialized fleet solution but also demonstrated the potential for broader deployment.
PTR said the truck was delivered in a fraction of the time typically required for a traditional custom build. The unit includes an upgraded body, enhanced lighting system, custom cooler storage, overhead ladder racks, and multiple custom storage cabinets designed to support crew productivity in the field.
PTR explained that each build was designed to address a specific customer challenge while demonstrating the company's ability to combine customer input, internal expertise, and in-house craftsmanship to develop practical fleet solutions. The company noted that custom solutions are available for rental customers nationwide.
With more than 30 years of industry experience and a decade operating under the PTR name, the company specializes in customized work trucks and trailers for construction and utility contractors throughout the US.
