Peterbilt has unveiled the next generation of its heavy-duty battery-electric vehicles: the updated Model 579EV and the brand-new Model 567EV, the first electric heavy-duty conventional vocational truck in the industry.
“Designed for performance and efficiency, the next evolution of Peterbilt battery-electric vehicles offers industry-leading versatility, fast-charging capabilities, and advanced safety features to meet the needs of today’s fleet and vocational operations,” said Erik Johnson, Assistant General Manager, Sales and Marketing for Peterbilt.
The Model 579EV builds upon the diesel-powered Model 579 platform, excelling in regional haul and drayage applications. It offers three battery capacity options with a maximum range of 200 miles and supports up to 350 kW DC charging, allowing an 80 percent charge in just over 90 minutes. Safety is improved with features such as a new electronic parking brake (EPB) and standard Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC Fusion advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), along with Stop & Auto-Go Advanced technology. The truck also boasts best-in-class ergonomics, LED lighting, and enhanced driver comfort.
The exterior design is distinguished by a unique grille pattern with blue accents and stylish hood side panels, while the interior includes laser-etched trim and gray stitching in the EV-exclusive Platinum Ionic Gray finish.
The all-new Model 567EV is tailored for vocational use, including dump trucks, utility trucks, and equipment haulers. It offers four battery capacity options and a maximum range of 250 miles for full truck and tractor configurations. The 567EV includes owner-supplied ePTO options rated at 25 kW or 150 kW, configurable PTO controls, standard body lighting connections, and customizable frame layouts.
The design features a blue-accented crown and grille with EV-exclusive hood panels, maintaining a rugged and modern look. Its interior matches the Platinum Ionic Gray finish of the 579EV.
Peterbilt’s electric vehicles incorporate the PACCAR ePowertrain, featuring a midship-mounted dual electric motor with an integrated three-speed transmission, providing up to 605 horsepower and 1,850 lb.-ft. of torque. The proven lithium iron phosphate battery supports flexible configurations and regenerative braking. Both models offer the innovative SmartDisplay, a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system that provides quick access to vehicle controls and advanced applications.
Peterbilt has partnered with leading charging infrastructure providers to offer a full range of AC and DC chargers, along with installation services that support EV deployment.
“Peterbilt leads the industry with high-performance, zero-emission, heavy-duty battery-electric vehicles. The next-generation Model 579EV and the all-new Model 567EV support the sustainability goals, operational efficiencies, and enhanced driver experiences our customers demand for long-term success in an evolving industry,” added Johnson.
