Peterbilt is celebrating America’s 250th birthday with a limited‑run version of its flagship long‑hood tractor: the Freedom 250 Special Edition Model 589.
Only 250 units will be built, each combining the platform’s traditional styling with a series of patriotic design elements intended to make the truck stand out on the road and in a fleet.
The exterior package includes a Stars & Stripes sleeper badge available on 58‑, 72‑, and 80‑inch sleepers, Freedom 250‑etched exhaust guards, a Texas square bumper, and a three‑color paint scheme built around Freedom Red and Freedom Blue metallic finishes. According to the company, the goal is to give the truck a distinctive, commemorative look while maintaining the familiar proportions of the 589.
Inside the cab, Peterbilt is offering Sandstone or Alpine Gray Platinum trim levels. The interior also receives black leather seats embroidered with the Freedom 250 logo in the headrest, along with a commemorative dash badge marking the truck’s limited‑edition status. These touches are designed to differentiate the model while keeping the driver environment consistent with the 589’s premium spec.
“The Freedom 250 Special Edition Model 589 is a tribute to the resilience and greatness of our nation and to the hardworking men and women who keep America moving every day,” said Erik Johnson, Peterbilt Assistant General Manager of Sales and Marketing. “This truck delivers the superior quality and pride of ownership that Peterbilt customers expect, wrapped in a design that celebrates 250 years of freedom and the enduring Class of the open road.”
The Freedom 250 Special Edition is available for order now through authorized Peterbilt dealerships until the end of the year.
Peterbilt will also release a Freedom 250 merchandise collection beginning in June, giving customers and collectors another way to mark the milestone.
