Kenworth has introduced its latest innovation in electric trucking—the next-generation T680E. This cutting-edge Class 8 battery-electric vehicle (BEV) represents a major step forward in the company’s expanding lineup of advanced powertrains.
Built with a brand-new PACCAR-integrated ePowertrain, the T680E combines enhanced performance, range flexibility, and a refreshed aerodynamic design.
Its powertrain delivers between 365 and 470 continuous horsepower and up to 605 horsepower at peak, with torque reaching 1,850 lb./ft. The new central drive eMotor supports improved battery capacity, faster charging, and better drivability.
“The central drive eMotor and updated vehicle architecture allow for increased battery capacity, charging speeds, wheelbase flexibility, and drivability that delivers on the promise of The Driver’s Truck,” said Joe Adams, Kenworth’s Chief Engineer.
Buyers can choose from three battery configurations to suit different operational needs. The largest option, a 500-kWh pack, offers a range of over 200 miles and supports a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of up to 82,000 pounds. With CCS1 DC fast charging and a peak charge rate of 350 kW, the T680E can reach 90 percent battery capacity in about two hours.
Kevin Haygood, Kenworth’s Assistant General Manager for Sales and Marketing, added, “Our engineering team has worked diligently over the past several years to develop a PACCAR integrated battery-electric platform from the ground up. This strategic approach enables us to provide a truck and a powertrain for every job that effectively meet customer needs based on range, performance, reliability, and ease of service.”
The truck’s redesigned exterior features LED headlights with blue accents and a signature blue Kenworth badge. Inside, a new digital interface displays electric-specific metrics like regenerative braking and range. A 15-inch DriverConnect touchscreen enhances vehicle operation, and optional ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) features include DigitalVision mirrors and Bendix Fusion.
Kenworth’s battery-electric fleet also includes the T880E vocational truck and the medium-duty K270E and K370E.
The T680E is engineered for regional haul, drayage, and LTL operations and is now available for order across the US and Canada. Customer deliveries are expected to begin later in 2025. For details on the T680E and available EV incentives, visit www.kenworth.com.
