Hino Trucks has introduced the Le Series, a new battery electric medium‑duty truck platform designed to help fleets reduce emissions without compromising day‑to‑day performance.
The truck is a significant expansion of the company’s zero‑emission product strategy, with the Le Series offered in 25,950‑lb. (L6e) and 33,000‑lb. (L7e) GVWR configurations, giving operators two options for Class 6–7 applications.
Hino said the Le Series is built for fleets looking to improve their environmental footprint while maintaining the durability and ownership experience associated with the brand.
“Introducing the Le Series is an important step in our efforts to reduce environmental impact and support our customers’ sustainability goals,” said Rodney Shaffer, Vice President, National Accounts & Zero Emission Vehicles of Hino Trucks. “We’ve focused on delivering a solution that builds on our proven platform and is well-suited for the applications where electric vehicles make the most sense, helping fleets take practical and meaningful steps toward lower emissions.”
Power is supplied by the Hexagon Purus ProPack Battery System, which uses Panasonic Energy lithium‑ion cells rated at 269 kWh and up to 750 volts. The truck supports DC fast charging (CCS Type 1 /120 kW), enabling a 0–80 percent charge in roughly 1.8 hours.
Propulsion comes from Accelera’s (Cummins’ zero‑emissions technology brand) Integrated e‑Axle 14Xe Gen 4.5, delivering 260 kW /348 hp peak power and 180 kW /241 hp continuous power through a two‑speed automatic transmission and axle assembly.
Hino noted that the electrical architecture is engineered for high efficiency and optimized range. Features such as programmable regenerative braking and improved weight distribution are intended to support real‑world performance and operational consistency.
Drivers can expect smooth torque delivery and quieter operation, which the company said may help reduce fatigue during long shifts.
For upfitters, a clear back‑of‑cab layout is designed to simplify body integration across multiple applications.
Standard safety equipment includes an automatic emergency braking system and lane departure warning system, aligning the Le Series with current expectations for medium‑duty commercial vehicles.
Production is scheduled to begin in Q3 2026, supporting Hino’s broader plan to deliver practical, lower‑emission solutions that meet evolving regulatory and customer requirements.
Hino Trucks manufactures, distributes, and services a lineup of Class 6–8 commercial trucks across the United States and is headquartered in Novi, Michigan. For more information, visit www.hino.com.
