The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has acquired WrenchWay, a workforce development platform focused on supporting careers in the automotive, diesel, and collision repair industries.
Under the agreement, WrenchWay’s co-founders and employees will join the ASE team. ASE said the acquisition will help the organization further its mission of supporting transportation industry professionals while strengthening connections among schools, employers, and industry partners.
According to Dave Johnson, President and Chief Executive Officer of ASE, the acquisition aligns with the organization's broader vision of modernizing how it serves technicians, repair facilities, educators, and future industry professionals.
“Modernizing ASE has always meant more than updating our tests. It means rethinking how we serve technicians, shops, educators, and the next generation entering the industry,” exclaimed Johnson. “WrenchWay has built something remarkable and together we can deliver on that vision at a scale neither of us could achieve alone.”
The two organizations have already worked together on workforce initiatives. Earlier this year, ASE and WrenchWay launched ASE Connects, a platform designed to strengthen connections between schools and industry while providing greater access to workforce data and career pathway resources for automotive, diesel, and collision repair students and professionals.
ASE said ASE Connects will continue to be a major focus moving forward. In addition, WrenchWay’s technology platform and workforce expertise are expected to support other areas of ASE’s expanding programs and services.
“Growing up in the industry, ASE has always been a brand I admire and respect,” said Jay Goninen, co-founder and President of WrenchWay. “The opportunity to now be part of ASE’s future is both humbling and exciting. It is a true honor to help build on that legacy while creating new ways to support service professionals.”
Mark Wilson, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of WrenchWay, related that the company is excited to contribute to ASE’s future direction.
“There are not many brands in this industry that every technician and every shop instantly recognize. ASE is one of them,” Wilson stated. “We have enormous respect for what's been built here and equally high expectations for what comes next.”
ASE and WrenchWay said additional information regarding integration timelines and the transition process for current users will be announced in the coming weeks.
