HMI Systems has announced the release of its new 750MDI Media Display Interface, a seven-inch touchscreen solution designed to help original equipment manufacturers create customized operator experiences for transportation, industrial, and equipment applications.
The 750MDI combines a high-resolution, daylight-readable display with embedded computing capability and CAN connectivity, providing OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) with a platform for presenting machine information and controls in a modern graphical format.
The display features a 1024 x 600 resolution IPS (In-Plane Switching, a technology developed to improve image quality compared to traditional LCD panels) screen with a brightness rating of 950 cd/m², allowing operators to view information in direct sunlight. A capacitive touchscreen and wide viewing angle further support usability in a variety of operating environments.
At the heart of the system is a quad-core processor capable of supporting responsive, graphics-rich user interfaces. HMI Systems explained that OEMs can use its CANcreate software utilities to develop and deploy custom display graphics more efficiently. Custom bezel options are also available, enabling manufacturers to better align the display with equipment styling and branding requirements.
The interface is designed for integration into modern machine and vehicle platforms. CAN communication capabilities allow the display to connect with control systems, while onboard USB connectivity, a real-time clock, and an internal temperature sensor provide additional functionality for system monitoring and application development.
For equipment operating in harsh conditions, the 750MDI features an IP65-rated enclosure to protect against dust and water intrusion. The unit supports both 12- and 24-volt systems through a 7-32 VDC input range and is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 70°C. HMI Systems also notes that the power-input design has been optimized to minimize electromagnetic interference.
According to the company, the combination of display visibility, processing performance, connectivity options, and rugged construction makes the 750MDI well suited for OEMs seeking to develop customized, graphics-rich operator environments for industrial and mobile equipment.
