Ex-Guard Industries has launched its most advanced front-end protection system yet—the Ex-Guard MAX—designed to deliver unmatched durability and safety for Class 6–8 trucks.
The new guard sets a benchmark with industry-first features, including a Front Underrun Mitigation System and exclusive Steer Tire Defender 3.0 protection.
Jeremy Drever, Director of Engineering for Ex-Guard, explained, “The Ex-Guard MAX is the company’s strongest, highest-rated extreme-duty grille guard, expanding a portfolio that ranges from low-profile bumper guards to full-front-end protection models. Designed for Class 6–8 trucks, the Ex-Guard MAX introduces reinforced guard technology and enhanced steer tire protection, and is the first grille guard in North America to be independently tested and validated to meet a key international benchmark (UN ECE R93) for front underrun mitigation.”
The Ex-Guard MAX builds on the legacy of the XG-150 extreme-duty model with three major advancements:
- VISR Bar (Vehicle Illumination Safety Reinforcement): A new 8-gauge high-tensile steel low bar reinforced with steel plate gusseting to withstand head-on and angled impacts. It also protects critical components like collision mitigation system radars, fog lamps, and steer tires.
- Front Underrun Mitigation System: Designed to help prevent vehicles from sliding beneath a truck in certain collisions, reducing damage and downtime. While not required in North America, Ex-Guard validated the MAX against UN ECE R93 standards—an industry-first achievement.
- Steer Tire Defender 3.0: The highest protection rating for steer tires, available exclusively with the MAX series. This system redirects impact forces away from steer tires, reducing the risk of costly repairs and downtime.
Drever added, “Steer tires are among the most critical components on any truck. Damage to this area can create major risks for equipment and operations. With the Ex-Guard MAX and its Steer Tire Defender 3.0 rating, we’ve engineered our strongest protection yet.”
The MAX series is compatible with major OEMs, including Freightliner, Kenworth, Volvo, Mack, Peterbilt, International, and Western Star. Standard features include ClearZone CMS compatibility, XERO-G Lift Assist, EVRCoat PVC finish, LEVRLock dual latches, and a license plate bracket.
