Ascenso Tires has expanded its off‑highway product lineup with the launch of the SSS 340, a purpose‑built solid skid steer tire designed for severe‑duty industrial and construction environments.
Ascenso is a global manufacturer of off‑highway tires serving agricultural, construction, material handling, and industrial markets. The company focuses on engineering‑driven design and application‑specific solutions and continues to expand its product portfolio to meet the needs of the specialty tire sector. Ascenso is headquartered in Stow, Ohio, and operates internationally across multiple off‑highway segments.
The company said the new tire is engineered to eliminate downtime caused by punctures, cuts, and accelerated wear—common issues for pneumatic tires operating on abrasive surfaces and debris‑heavy job sites.
Built for industrial yards, construction sites, waste and recycling facilities, and agricultural operations, the SSS 340 is designed to perform under extreme loads and continuous duty cycles. Ascenso noted that the tire is intended for conditions where air‑filled tires often fail due to sharp debris, high impact, or heat buildup.
The SSS 340 incorporates a deep, maximum‑overlap tread pattern with a high solid‑to‑void ratio to maintain traction on loose, uneven, and debris‑laden surfaces. The tread is engineered to self‑clean by ejecting mud, waste, and construction debris during forward and reverse travel, helping reduce slip and uneven wear during aggressive skid steer maneuvering.
To address the rigidity challenges common to solid tires, Ascenso developed a specialized sidewall aperture geometry that improves shock absorption and thermal stability. According to the company, the aperture design helps absorb impact loads, reduce vibration transmitted to the machine and operator, and promote airflow to disperse heat during long operating cycles. By managing heat and impact stress, the tire is engineered to minimize cracking and structural fatigue.
The SSS 340 is manufactured using a premium, abrasion‑resistant solid rubber compound formulated to withstand cuts, punctures, chunking, and tearing in high‑impact environments. Ascenso said the compound is designed to extend service life and reduce the total cost of ownership by maintaining consistent performance throughout the tire’s usable life.
The tire is available in two sizes—33×12‑20 and 31×10‑20—with maximum load ratings of 11,450 lbs. and 8,880 lbs. respectively at 16 mph. Steer load ratings are 8,810 lbs. and 6,830 lbs.
To reduce downtime, Ascenso also offers the SSS 340 as a complete wheel‑and‑tire assembly, allowing fleets and rental operations to install solid tires without specialized pressing equipment.
“With the introduction of the SSS 340, Ascenso Tires delivers a purpose-built solid skid steer tire designed to support heavy loads, continuous duty cycles, and aggressive operating conditions,” commented Ryan Lopes, Vice President of Marketing and Business Strategy at Ascenso Tires. “By offering both tire-only and complete wheel assembly options, we give our customers flexible, uptime-focused solutions for demanding applications.”
